Cuthbert Law Offices has successfully litigated personal injury cases for our clients and their families throughout the state of Virginia since 1977.
Petersburg Personal Injury Firm
When a person is injured in an accident, they need to know that their lawyer is someone who understands all that goes into securing a financial settlement. That starts in the investigative process—acquiring the information that can prove the other party’s negligence and ward off any attempts by the defendant’s insurer to disprove the claim. It continues into negotiation—knowing what issues and costs to bring to the table. And there are times when it must be settled in litigation—when a lawyer has to be prepared to make their case to a judge or jury.
Experience is a great teacher. Clients that come through the door at Cuthbert Law Offices get the benefit of all the experience we’ve gained since 1977. We’ve spent that time fighting for people across Virginia and working towards the fair settlements they rely on and deserve.

Logging Accident Settlement
Settlement reached after a log chipper exploded deep in the woods in Greensville County, hurting three and killing one. Each of the four suffered horrific burn injuries. Ours was one of four law firms that banded together to obtain this remarkable composite result.
This was another horrific burn injury case. Our client, a man soaked in gasoline, ignited when a police officer shot him with a Taser. Four law firms, included ours, pooled expertise to obtain this settlement for the man who had been so badly burned.
Medical Malpractice Verdict
This Medical Malpractice lawsuit involved a Chesterfield County man who was left incapacitated by a stroke. The stroke was the result of medication prescribed by his doctor to address symptoms of a cold. The medication was called Phenergan VC with codeine. This is believed to be the largest medical malpractice verdict ever returned by a Chesterfield County jury.
Settlement Following Head-on High-Speed Collision
We brought this lawsuit on behalf of a high school teacher who was badly hurt when an overly zealous off-duty policeman, responding as a volunteer to an emergency call, crossed over the yellow line and hit the teacher’s car head-on.
Wrongful Death Verdict
This jury verdict of over $2 million dollars is believed to be the largest wrongful death, medical malpractice verdict ever returned by a Petersburg jury. A teacher who taught elementary school in Prince George County died at Southside Regional Medical Center because an emergency physician failed to diagnose a flesh-eating bacterial infection.
Wrongful Death Verdict
Jury verdict for the mother of an 18-year-old girl ejected from a speeding car that struck the brick wall of Blandford Cemetery while northbound at a curve on South Crater Road in Petersburg.
If you or someone you know has suffered an injury due to the negligence of a third party, you have the right to file a lawsuit to recover everything you have lost as a result of the injury.
Catastrophic injuries, from burns to paralysis to amputation, and more, can a take a devastating toll. Not just on the victim, but their loved ones. When those injuries are due to negligence by another, the injured party and their family need to know that they will get a fair financial settlement, one that can support them for an extended period of time—perhaps permanently. But what is fair? How do you project out what’s needed into the future? Above all, how you do this when everyone involved is coming to grips with how much their lives have unexpectedly changed?
This where the counsel and leadership of Cuthbert Law Offices can be invaluable. Car Accident Attorney in Southeast Virginia
Even when it seems apparent that a car accident was the other driver’s fault, getting a fair financial settlement is no guarantee. Proving negligence can require meticulous, step-by-step investigation into an accident and its aftermath. Insurance companies can seek to undermine an injured plaintiff’s rightful claims to financial recovery. And in the event that a tragedy occurred, and the driver died, the issue of filing a wrongful death lawsuit opens up a whole new set of legal issues.
