UNPUBLISHED OPINION. CHECK COURT RULES BEFORE CITING.

Supreme Court of Virginia.

George INGRAM, Appellant,

v.

Stephen T. HARPER, et al., Appellees.

Record No. 060739.

Jan. 12, 2007.

In this wrongful death action, personal injury trial attorneys Charles H. Cuthbert Jr. and Margaret Cuthbert Broaddus of Cuthbert Law Offices in Petersburg, Va. successfully represented the estate of a woman killed by a Richmond police officer. In Ingram v. Harper, handed down on January 12, 2007, the Virginia Supreme Court upheld a jury verdict that concluded Sgt. George Ingram acted with gross negligence when he fired five breaching rounds into the wooden kitchen door of an occupied apartment. Fragments from one of those shots killed 18-year-old Christie Green, who was visiting the apartment. Cuthbert and Broaddus persuaded jurors to award $750,000 to each of Ms. Green’s two minor daughters, plus funeral expenses.
